Introduction to Video & Sonic Arts, Alfred University
TSI/ Harland Snodgrass Gallery
Fall 2024

For In The Air, students worked collaboratively to produce a site-specific multi-channel video installation inspired by
Alex Da Corte’s Time Square project Blue Moon for the TSI/Harland Snodgrass Gallery at Alfred University. Each student selected a specific role based on their skills and interests, contributing to the collective effort. Roles included performance, lighting setup and operation, special effects, makeup and costume direction, art direction, video recording, video compositing, and multi-channel video installation. Students operated as both creators and editors, and were responsible for the entirety of the project, from conceptual content to technical execution and installation.

The project emphasized teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, with students learning how to integrate various technical and creative elements into a cohesive final installation. They gained hands-on experience in both the conceptual and technical aspects of video and sonic arts and considered the challenges of developing dynamic video compositions and designing immersive multi-channel installations.

This collaborative approach encouraged students to develop specialized skills while understanding how individual contributions fit into a larger creative vision.
