In this project, students explored the structure and ethos of fanzines produced on the Risograph as a medium for creative expression and community engagement. Each student developed a fanzine page dedicated to a personal cinema experience. The project emphasized the DIY spirit of fanzine culture, encouraging students to experiment with layout, typography, and collage techniques.
Students learned how to effectively communicate their ideas through both digital and analog methods, combining graphic design tools with hands-on techniques like cutting, pasting, and hand-lettering. The final prints were bound into the final zine format using a “smart binder.”
